Description: The main theme of "Open Our Hearts" is the importance of social ministry. Furthermore, this ministry is highlighted by a sincere and powerful sense of compassion in our actions to those in need. Jesus' compassion is the ideal toward which we strive. This piece is appropriate for Ordinary Time. Also it can be used for any occasion to reinforce the value of social justice and ministry with compassion. Because of the tone, style, and duration of this piece, a suitable liturgical use of "Open Our Hearts" would be at the Offertory time of mass.

Performance: "Open Our Hearts" has a beautiful melody that can be enhanced musically by having a solo voice or a section from the choir sing the verse and then the full choir on the refrain. The pace of the music should be smooth and lyrical. The pianist is encouraged to ad lib the piano part to help support the smooth lyrical quality of the song.
